Breast augmentation is a medical procedure that helps, typically women, increase the size and shape of their breasts. Think of your chest area as a balloon and the doctor is going to add more air with a pump to make the balloon bigger. But instead of air, they use special medical devices called implants that are filled with either saline (basically salt water) or silicone gel.
To do this, the doctor will usually make a small incision (cut) either under your breast, around your nipple, or in your armpit. Then, they create a pocket under your chest muscle or breast tissue where they place the implant. Once the implant is in place, the doctor will sew up the incision and put a bandage on it to help you heal.
The surgery can take anywhere from one to two hours and is done under general anesthesia. This means that you will be asleep and won't feel any pain during the procedure. You will need to rest and take some time off from your daily activities while your body heals.
While breast augmentation can help give you the size and shape of breasts you desire, it is important to remember that there are risks and limitations to any medical procedure. Make sure to talk to your doctor about your goals and concerns to determine if breast augmentation is the right choice for you.
