Brethren Volunteer Service

Brethren Volunteer Service (BVS) is a group of grown-ups who want to help people and make the world a better place, just like how you want to help your friends and share your toys. BVS volunteers offer their time and skills to help people who are in need, in a variety of places such as schools, hospitals, farms, and community centers.

Before they start helping others, BVS volunteers go through a process of training and preparing themselves to be ready to serve others. This means learning new skills or practicing ones they already have, like cooking, teaching, or building things. They also learn about the different cultures and ways of life that they may encounter while helping others.

Then, BVS volunteers go to different places around the United States or even in other countries where they will stay with people who need their help. This is called "doing service." During their time serving, they may do things like cook meals, teach people how to read and write, or even help build houses or dig wells for clean water.

BVS volunteers do not get paid for their service, but they get a place to sleep and food to eat while they are serving. They also get to meet new people and make friends who come from different backgrounds, learn new things that they may not have known before.

In summary, BVS is a group of grown-ups who want to help people in need. They go to different places to do service, like cooking food or teaching people how to read. They learn new things and meet new people, and most importantly, they make the world a better place.
