Brett Kavanaugh
Brett Kavanaugh is a person who was nominated by the President of the United States to become a judge on a really important group called the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court is like the bosses of courts and they make big decisions that affect everybody in America.
But some people had some problems with Brett Kavanaugh becoming a judge because some things were said about him that made some people think he might not be a good judge. Some people think he did things that weren't very nice to other people a long time ago when he was in high school and college.
So, there was a big hearing where Brett Kavanaugh went to talk to some other important people about all of these things. They asked him questions and he answered them, but some people still weren't sure if he was telling the truth.
Eventually, the people who have the job of deciding if he can be a judge or not, called senators, had to vote if they wanted him to be a judge or not. It was a big decision because if he became a judge, it could change things in America for a long time.
After a lot of talking and thinking, the senators voted and Brett Kavanaugh became a judge anyway. Some people were happy about it and some people were not. But that's just how it goes sometimes.
