ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

British Americans

British Americans are people who have ancestors from Great Britain and who now live in America. So imagine that your mom or dad used to live in a different house far away, and they were born in a place called Great Britain. They had kids (you!) and then they moved to America with their family, so now you are a British American!

Some British Americans may have grandparents or great-grandparents who moved from Great Britain to America a long time ago. These grandparents brought with them their culture, traditions, and even their accents! Some British Americans may feel a close connection to their ancestors and keep traditions from their homeland alive.

In America, there are many people from different backgrounds and cultures, and British Americans are just one example. They may have different customs, foods, and celebrations from people of other ancestries, but everyone is welcome to share and learn from each other.
