British Columbia gold rushes

The British Columbia Gold Rushes were periods of time in the 1800s when a lot of people moved to British Columbia (which is modern-day Canada) to look for gold. This was because some people found signs of gold in the area, and thought they could get rich if they found more of it. A lot of people moved to the area to look for gold, meaning that small towns sprung up overnight, and many people became very wealthy as gold was discovered. However, there were also some sad stories as some people didn't find enough gold and ended up struggling financially.
