British currency in the South Atlantic and the Antarctic

Okay kiddo, do you know what money is? It’s a special type of paper or metal that people use to buy things they need or want. In the United Kingdom, the money they use is called British Pound Sterling.

Now, let’s talk about a special place called the South Atlantic and Antarctic. These places are really far away from the United Kingdom, but they still belong to the UK. People live there and they use the same British Pound Sterling money as in the UK.

But because these places are so far away, it’s not very easy to get new money when the old one is worn out or damaged. So instead of printing new money all the time, they use special coins that are made to last a really long time.

These coins are called “Falkland Islands pounds” for the south Atlantic and “British Antarctic Territory pounds” for the Antarctic. They look a bit different from the regular British coins, but they’re worth the same amount.

So there you have it, the people living in the South Atlantic and Antarctic use British money, but they have special coins that are very durable and last a long time.
