British prison hulk

Okay, so imagine you're playing a game of pirates. Pirates sometimes get caught and sent to jail, right? Well, back in the old days, in England, they had a special kind of jail called a "prison hulk".

A prison hulk was basically a big ship (like a pirate ship) that was no longer used for sailing. Instead, they would take all the pirates who had been caught and lock them up on the ship.

But here's the thing: it wasn't a comfortable or fun jail! The prisoners were kept in really crowded, small spaces, with no privacy or fresh air. It was like being stuck in a giant, old, dirty can.

They weren't allowed to leave the ship, so they would just spend day after day, week after week, trapped on board. It was pretty miserable.

Eventually, the prisoners would either be released (if they were lucky), or they would be sent to another jail to finish their punishment. But while they were on the prison hulk, life was pretty darn tough.
