Okay kiddo, let me tell you about something called British Unmanned Aerial Vehicles of World War I. During the war, the British army used airplanes to spy on their enemies and gather information. But sometimes it was too dangerous for a human pilot to fly over enemy territory.
So they came up with an idea to build planes that didn't need pilots, called Unmanned Aerial Vehicles or UAVs for short. These vehicles were controlled by a team of people on the ground who could see what the plane was seeing through a camera that was attached to it.
The first British UAV was called the "Aerial Target" and it was used to practice shooting down planes before the real fighting began. Then, they created a more sophisticated model called the "Aerial Torpedo" which was used to drop bombs on the enemy.
Unfortunately, the early UAVs were not very reliable and often crashed, and the technology wasn't advanced enough to allow for precision targeting. So even though they were a good idea, they weren't very effective in battle.
But, the idea of UAVs stuck around and today we have drones that are used for a variety of purposes like taking pictures, delivering packages or even for military operations.
