ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Buddha's Dispensation

Imagine that a long, long time ago, there was a wise man named Buddha. He taught people about how to live a good and happy life. Buddha's teachings are called the "Buddha's dispensation."

Buddha believed that people suffer because they have wrong views and desires. He explained that if we want to be happy, we need to let go of our wrong views and desires. Buddha's dispensation gives us a way to do this.

Buddha taught us about the Four Noble Truths. The first Noble Truth is that people suffer. The second is that we suffer because we hold on to things we want and don't want. The third is that we can end our suffering by letting go of these things. The fourth is that there is a way to let go of these things and find happiness.

Buddha also taught us about the Eightfold Path. This is a way to live our lives so that we can let go of our wrong views and desires. The Eightfold Path has eight steps. These are: right understanding, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right concentration.

By following the Eightfold Path, we can become better people and live better lives. Buddha's dispensation is a way for us to let go of our suffering and find true happiness.
