Budi Utomo is like a big group of friends who came together a long time ago in Indonesia, when it was still under Dutch colonial rule. These friends were very important people in their community, like teachers, doctors, and businessmen. They wanted to help their fellow Indonesians get better education and jobs, and to have more say in their own country's government.
To do this, Budi Utomo started organizing schools and cultural societies to promote Indonesian language and traditions. They also pushed for more Indonesians to be trained in professions like law, medicine, and engineering so they could have better jobs. And they tried to raise awareness of Indonesian identity and pride, to show that Indonesians were just as good as any other people in the world.
Over time, other groups joined in this movement, and eventually it became a big part of Indonesia's independence struggle. Although Budi Utomo isn't as active as it used to be, its legacy lives on as a symbol of Indonesia's strength and unity.
