Build–operate–transfer

Okay kiddo, have you ever played with blocks? Building blocks is a lot like building a big thing in real life, like a school or a road.

So some people are really good at building things and they're called builders. But sometimes, other people want to use what the builders made so they can't just keep the thing they built all to themselves. And this is where build-operate-transfer (BOT) comes in.

The builders are hired to build the thing, but they don't keep it for themselves. Instead, they run it for a while, kind of like how when you build a castle out of blocks, you get to be the king or queen of it for a little bit before you let other people come play with it too.

Once the builders have run the thing they built for a set amount of time, they transfer it over to someone else to own and operate. It's like handing the castle over to someone else to rule over.

This is a useful way to get big projects done because sometimes the people who want the thing built don't know how to do it themselves. They hire the builders to do it, and then let the builders run it for a while until they're ready to take over ownership and operation later on.
