Bulla (seal)

Imagine you have a jar of your favorite candy, and you want to make sure nobody else sneaks a piece while you’re not looking. What can you do? You can put a seal on the jar, like a sticker that shows it hasn't been opened. This way, you’ll know if somebody took some candy without your permission.

Well, bulla is kind of like a seal for important documents. Back in ancient times, people used a special kind of clay to make a small, round ball, about the size of your palm. They would flatten it out and then stamp a design on it, like a picture of a king or a special symbol. Then they would take a string, put it through the bulla, and tie it to whatever document they wanted to protect.

This way, if someone tried to open the document and remove or add anything, the bulla would be broken, and it would be easy to tell that something was wrong. Sort of like if somebody tried to open your candy jar and couldn't get the seal off without breaking it.

So, in summary, a bulla is a small clay seal that people in ancient times used to protect important documents from being tampered with.
