Burial mound

Okay, so have you ever played with sand and dirt and made a big pile of it? That's kind of what a burial mound is, but it's not just a fun thing to play with.

A long, long time ago, people used to bury their loved ones in these big mounds. They thought that by burying them high up, it would bring them closer to the heavens. These mounds were usually made of dirt, rocks, and sometimes even bones.

A lot of times, important people or leaders were buried in these mounds. They might even put things like special jewelry or clothing in the mound with the person, to make sure they had everything they needed in the afterlife.

These burial mounds are really important because they give us a peek into what life was like a long, long time ago. When people find these mounds now, they can learn about the people who were buried there and what they believed in. It's like a big treasure hunt, but instead of gold and jewels, we're discovering history!
