ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Bush Barrow

Imagine if you have a sandbox and you wanted to put your toy cars in it. But the ground is soft and muddy, so your cars keep getting stuck. What do you do? You can put a big piece of wood under the cars to help them move more easily. That piece of wood is called a bush barrow.

Now, let's imagine that instead of toy cars, some people a long, long time ago had to move big heavy things like rocks from one place to another. They didn't have trucks or cranes like we have today, so they couldn't just pick things up and move them. Instead, they used something like a bush barrow.

The bush barrow they used was made of wood, just like the one you imagined putting under your toy cars. But it was much bigger and stronger. A group of people could put a big rock on top of the bush barrow, and then they would all lift the sides of the barrow and carry the rock to where they needed it.

The people who used the bush barrow were very skilled at moving heavy things. They used them to build big structures like burial mounds and other important places. The bush barrow itself might not seem like a big deal, but it was a very important tool for people who didn't have modern technology to help them move things.
