ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

CIA triad

Okay kiddo, the CIA triad is a way we keep important information safe. It's called CIA because those are the first letters of three really important things: confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Confidentiality means we keep things secret from people who aren't supposed to know. Just like when we whisper a secret to a friend and ask them not to tell anyone else. We make sure that only the people who need to know something can access it.

Integrity means the information we have is accurate and complete. Just like when we play a puzzle game and need to make sure all the pieces fit together perfectly. We want to make sure the information we have isn't changed or tampered with by accident or on purpose.

Availability means we can access the information when we need to. Just like when we save our favorite toy in a special spot so we can easily find it when we want to play. We want to make sure the information is available when it's needed, and that it doesn't disappear or get lost.

So, the CIA triad helps us keep our information safe and protected by making sure only the right people can access it, that it's accurate and complete, and that we can get to it when we need it. Pretty cool, huh?
