ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Cable gland

Ok kiddo, imagine you have a piece of pipe with 2 holes on each side. You want to put your cable (which is like a thick string that carries electricity) through the pipe and connect it to something else on the other side. But you don't want any water or dirt to get in through the holes and damage your cable or the thing you're connecting it to.

So, what do you do? You need to seal off those holes so that nothing can get in. That's where the cable gland comes in! A cable gland is like a special cap that you put over the holes.

It has a rubbery seal that goes around your cable to keep water and dust out. When you tighten the cap, it squeezes the seal really hard and the rubbery part flattens, making a super tight seal around your cable. This means nothing can get into the pipe and mess up your connection!

And that's it! A cable gland is a special cap that helps keep your cables safe and protected from the outside world.
