ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Cairo

Cairo is a special computer program made to help draw pictures on the screen. It's like having a magic marker that can make all sorts of cool designs and shapes.

But how does it work? Well, when we want to make a picture, we have to tell Cairo what to draw. We do this by giving it a set of instructions, kind of like a recipe for making a cake. We might tell Cairo to draw a line from one point to another, or to make a circle or square.

Cairo is really smart though, so it can do more than just that. It can also make fancy patterns and gradients, and even draw pictures from complex data like maps or graphs.

Once we tell Cairo what we want it to draw, it goes to work like a little artist, putting all the pieces together to make our picture. And the best part is, we can keep changing our instructions and making new pictures as many times as we like!

So next time you want to make a cool picture on the computer, just remember to call on your trusty friend, Cairo.
