ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Calculating Space

Let's imagine that you have a big toy box that you want to fill with your toys. Before you put your toys in the box, you need to figure out how much space they will take up.

To calculate the space, you need to measure how big your toys are. You can do this by using a ruler or a measuring tape. For example, let's say you have a toy car that is 30cm long, 20cm wide, and 10cm tall.

To figure out how much space the toy car will take up, you multiply the length, width, and height measurements together. It would be like stacking blocks!

So for the toy car, the calculation would be:

30cm x 20cm x 10cm = 6,000 cubic centimeters of space

The answer you get in cubic centimeters (or cubic inches, or cubic feet) is how much space the toy car will take up in the toy box.

You can do this same calculation for all of your toys and add up the space they will take to know if all of them will fit into the box or not. And voila, you've calculated the space your toys will take up!
