California Electronic Waste Recycling Act

Okay kiddo, let me tell you about the California Electronic Waste Recycling Act, also known as CEWRA!

Basically, when we use electronic devices, like our phones or computers, they eventually get old or stop working. When that happens, we need to get rid of them. But we can't just throw them in the trash like we do with our other garbage! Why?

Well, some of the parts and metals inside our electronic devices are dangerous when they're not thrown away properly. They can pollute the air and water, and harm plants and animals. We don't want that, do we?

That's where CEWRA comes in! This law in California requires that people who make or sell electronic devices have to recycle them properly once they're no longer useful. They have to make sure they're broken down and separated into pieces, so that dangerous parts can be safely disposed of or reused.

Even if you and I don't work for an electronic company, we can still do our part! There are recycling centers all around California where we can take our old electronic devices to be sorted and recycled properly. That way we're being responsible for taking care of our environment, and making sure those dangerous parts don't harm anything.

So there you have it, CEWRA is just a fancy name for a law that makes sure people recycle their old electronics properly so we can protect the environment. Thanks for learning about it with me!
