Camless engine

Okay kiddo, so normally in a car, there is a part called a camshaft that helps control how much fuel and air go into the engine to make it go vroom. But in a camless engine, there is no camshaft! Instead, there are lots of tiny valves that can open and close super quickly, all controlled by a computer. This means the engine can use just the right amount of fuel and air at exactly the right time to make it run really efficiently and smoothly, which is pretty cool!
