Camless piston engine

A camless piston engine is a type of engine that doesn’t use camshafts. A camshaft is a shaft inside an engine that helps to control when the valves (parts that let air into the engine) open and close. Without a camshaft, the valves need to be opened and closed another way.

In a camless piston engine, the valves are opened and closed with electric or hydraulic pistons. These pistons are connected to a computer that knows exactly how and when to open and close the valves. This makes the engine more efficient and helps reduce emissions.
