Canada's role in the invasion of Afghanistan

Alright kiddo, so you know how Canada is a country, right? And just like how we have our own rules and laws in our house, Canada has rules and laws for the entire country.

Now imagine if one day some bad people came and started breaking those rules, and even hurting other people who live in Canada. What do you think Canada would do?

Well, just like we'll call the police if someone breaks our rules, Canada also has people called soldiers who are trained to help protect their country and its people.

In 2001, some very bad people called terrorists attacked the United States of America, which is very near to Canada. These terrorists hurt a lot of people and destroyed some very important buildings.

The U.S. decided to send their soldiers to a country called Afghanistan, because the terrorists who did the bad things were hiding there. Canada, being a good friend to America, decided to help and sent its own soldiers to Afghanistan as well.

The job of these soldiers was to find the terrorists and stop them from hurting any more people. This was a very difficult and dangerous job, and sadly many Canadian soldiers were hurt, and some even lost their lives.

But the soldiers were very brave and they kept working hard to help make sure that no more bad things happened to innocent people. Canada's role in the invasion of Afghanistan was to help make the world a safer place for everyone.
