Canadian heraldry

Hey kiddo! Have you seen those cool coats of arms that some people have on their clothes or on flags? That's called heraldry! It's a special way to show off who you are or where you come from.

In Canada, we have our own special way of doing heraldry, called Canadian heraldry. We use symbols and pictures to tell a story about someone or something important.

For example, if you look at the Canadian coat of arms, you'll see that it has lots of different symbols. There's a shield with three maple leaves to represent Canada itself, and other symbols like a beaver, a unicorn, and a lion.

These symbols each have a special meaning. The beaver represents hard work and persistence, the unicorn symbolizes purity and strength, and the lion stands for courage and power.

But not just anyone can use these symbols – they have to be granted by the Canadian government. That means if you want your own coat of arms, you have to apply for it and show that you deserve it.

So there you have it, buddy! Canadian heraldry is a special way of using symbols and pictures to tell a story about who you are or where you come from. Cool, huh?
