The Canary Islands Independence Movement is a group of people who want the Canary Islands, a group of islands off the west coast of Africa, to become an independent country and not belong to Spain anymore. They believe that the Canary Islands have the right to make their own decisions about how to live their lives, who should run their government, and what laws should be in place. They want to be free from the rules and laws that Spain imposes on the islands and to be able to make their own decisions about how to best look after their interests. The movement is still very active, with many people standing up to demonstrate their support for the Canary Islands to become its own independent nation.
