Cannabis in the United States

Cannabis is a type of plant that some people use to feel happy or relaxed. It's also called marijuana or weed. In the United States, some states have made it legal for people to have and use cannabis, but other states still say it's against the law.

The government of the United States used to say that having cannabis was always against the law everywhere in the country. But, over time, some people started to think that maybe it should be allowed in some places. So, some states started to make their own laws that said people could have cannabis for certain reasons, like if they were sick or in lots of pain and it helped them feel better.

Now, some states let people buy and use cannabis in special stores, and some even let people grow their own. Other states still have laws that say it's illegal to have or use cannabis, so people who live in those states have to be careful.

It's important to follow the laws wherever you live or visit, and remember that just because something is legal in one place doesn't mean it's legal everywhere.
