Carbonyl metallurgy

Carbonyl metallurgy is when we use chemicals called "carbonyls" to make metals. Carbonyls are made of carbon, oxygen, and metal atoms. When we heat up these carbonyls, they turn into gas and stick to the metal atoms. This makes a layer of metal carbonyls on the metal surface.

Then, we can heat up the metal carbonyls and they will break apart. This leaves behind pure metal on the surface. We can repeat this process many times to make sure we get a lot of pure metal.

This method can help us make really pure metals that are hard to get with other methods. It's kind of like baking a cake - we mix all the ingredients together, heat them up, and get something new and delicious!
