ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Cardmaking

Okay kiddo, let me explain what cardmaking is.

Do you know what a birthday card is? It's a special card that you give to someone on their birthday to show them that you care about them and you're happy they were born. Well, cardmaking is the skill of making these special cards.

When we make a card, we start with a blank piece of paper or a cardstock (a special kind of thicker paper that's good for making cards). Then, we get to decorate it and make it look pretty. We can use different materials like stickers, markers, paint, ribbon, and even glitter to make it look nice.

Some people like to draw or paint on their cards to make them special. Others like to use stamps, which are like special tools that can put a design on the card in ink. You can also use photographs and cut them out to glue on the card, or add things like buttons or ribbon to make them special.

Once we've decorated the card, we can add a message to the inside to say something nice, like "Happy Birthday!" or "I love you!" Then, we can give the card to someone special and they'll feel happy because they know we took the time to make something just for them.

So, that's what cardmaking is, kiddo! It's a fun way to show someone you care about them by making a special card that they will treasure.
