Carnegie Commission of Investigation on the Poor White Question in South Africa

So, imagine you're playing with your toys and you have a bunch of little toy people with you. Now let's say some of those toy people are different colors, maybe some are white and some are not. The Carnegie Commission of Investigation on the Poor White Question in South Africa was kind of like grown-up people looking at the problem of some white people in South Africa being poor and not as well off as other white people.

See, South Africa used to have a really unfair system called apartheid, where white people were treated way better than people of other colors. But even within that system, some white people were still struggling and didn't have as much money or opportunities as other white people. And that's what the Carnegie Commission wanted to study and try to fix.

Just like you might try to figure out why some of your toy people aren't getting enough toys to play with, the Carnegie Commission tried to figure out what was causing some white people in South Africa to be poor. They looked at things like education, jobs, and even the way families were structured. They wanted to come up with ideas to help these poor white people and make things more fair for everyone.

So basically, it was a group of grown-ups trying to help some people who were struggling, even though they were the same color as some of the people who were treating them unfairly in the first place.
