ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Carni

Okay, imagine you're at a restaurant and you order a big plate of spaghetti with tomato sauce. That's called a vegetarian meal because it doesn't have any meat in it. Now, imagine you order a big steak with mashed potatoes and gravy. That's called a carnivore meal because it has meat in it.

Carni is short for carnivore, which means an animal or person that eats meat for their meals. This includes animals like lions, tigers and bears (oh my!) and also us humans. Our bodies need certain nutrients that we get from meat like protein and iron to help us stay strong and healthy.

But it's important to eat meat that's been raised and prepared in a healthy and humane way. Some people choose not to eat meat at all because they don't like the idea of hurting animals or they have other reasons, and that's okay too! Everyone can choose what they want to eat and it's important to respect each other's choices.
