Carole Pateman

Carole Pateman is an English political scientist and feminist who is best known for her book, The Sexual Contract. In this book, Carole argues that gender inequality is built into the foundation of modern society and that the idea of freedom has been used to support and justify this inequality. In simple terms, this means that while the laws and customs of societies may appear to give everyone the same rights, in reality, there are certain groups who have had more freedom and power in the past and still do today.
