Cartography is the activity of making maps. Maps are like pictures of places that help us learn how to get around and understand our world. Cartographers use lots of different tools like rulers, compasses, and computer programs to measure distances and angles, draw boundaries and mark roads. They also use special software to combine data into 3D images, satellite images, and topographic maps. They study different kinds of geography, like oceans, mountains, forests, and deserts, to get a better understanding of how they all fit together.
