Casa montañesa

A casa montañesa is a type of house that is usually found in the mountainous regions of northern Spain, particularly in Cantabria and Asturias.

Think of it like a very big treehouse, but on the ground. The house is made of stone and wood, and has a sloping roof made of red clay tiles.

The casa montañesa is usually built on a small hill or slope, so that it is protected from the wind and rain. This is important because the weather in the mountains can be very harsh.

The house usually has two or three floors, with a big fireplace in the middle of the ground floor. The fireplace is very important, because it provides warmth and is used for cooking.

The house also has small windows with wooden shutters to keep out the cold. The shutters can be closed at night or during bad weather to keep the house warm and dry.

Outside the house, there is usually a small garden with fruit trees and flowers. The garden is surrounded by a stone wall to protect it from the wind.

The casa montañesa is a very important part of the culture and history of northern Spain. It has been around for hundreds of years and is still used today as a traditional family home.
