ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Cask strength

Okay, imagine you have a bottle of juice but it's very, very strong. That means that when you pour a little bit of it into your cup, you don't need to add any water or anything else to make it taste good. It's already perfect just the way it is.

Well, cask strength is kind of like that. Except instead of juice, it's whiskey. And instead of being strong just because someone made it that way, it's strong because it hasn't had any water added to it.

You see, after whiskey is made in a big barrel, people usually add some water to it to make it a little less strong. But with cask strength whiskey, they don't do that. They just pour it straight out of the barrel and into the bottle.

So when you drink cask strength whiskey, you're getting the exact same drink that was inside the barrel. It hasn't been watered down or changed in any way. And because of that, it's usually more flavorful and stronger than regular whiskey.

But be careful! Just like you wouldn't want to drink a whole bottle of really strong juice, you shouldn't drink too much cask strength whiskey at once. It's very powerful and can be a lot for your body to handle.
