ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Catálogo alfabético de apellidos

So, imagine you went to a big party and everyone there had a name tag with their name on it. Now imagine that this party is really big, with lots of people, and you want to find someone with a specific last name, like "Smith". That might be really hard, right?

Well, that's where a "catálogo alfabético de apellidos" comes in. It's like a really big book or list that has lots and lots of last names in alphabetical order. So if you wanted to find all the people with the last name "Smith", you could just look in the "S" section of the book or list and find them all really easily.

It's kind of like having a map to help you find your way around a big city - except instead of streets and neighborhoods, this map helps you find people. And it's really useful if you need to look up information about people, like if you're doing research, genealogy, or just trying to find a friend or relative with a certain last name.
