ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Cathedral (board game)

So, imagine you're playing a game where you build a big, fancy building that looks like a castle or a church. That's what Cathedral is about!

The game board is a square grid with different spaces on it. You and your friend take turns putting down your pieces, which are shaped like different parts of the building: walls, towers, roofs, and more. You can put your pieces anywhere you want on the board, as long as they touch one of your other pieces and don't touch any of your friend's pieces.

The goal of Cathedral is to build the biggest and best-looking building you can. You want it to look symmetrical and balanced, with no parts sticking out awkwardly. When all the spaces on the board are filled up, you count up how many spaces your building covers. Whoever has the most spaces wins!

But there's a catch: there are some special pieces called cathedrals that are even bigger than the others. If you manage to surround a cathedral with your pieces, you get to keep it and use it to expand your building even more!

So, the game is all about strategy and planning ahead. You have to think about where your buildings pieces go so that you can make the most of the space on the board. And if you're lucky, you might even get to build a cathedral and really show off your building skills!
