Cats in ancient Egypt

Long ago, in a special place called Ancient Egypt, people loved cats very much! They thought cats were so special that they even had a goddess who was part cat! Her name was Bastet. She was the protector of all kitties.

Ancient Egyptians loved cats so much that they wanted to keep them around all the time. They realized that cats are really good at catching mice and other pests, so they let the cats live with them in their homes. The people would even feed the cats special treats, like fish and milk, to show them they were loved.

One reason why cats were so important to Ancient Egyptians is that they believed that the cats had special powers! They thought that if a cat was around, it would bring good luck and fortune to the family.

Ancient Egyptians also noticed that cats are very graceful creatures. They would watch the cats move and jump and thought it was like watching a dance. They even made statues and jewelry of cats to wear, and they painted pictures of cats on their walls.

Today, we still love cats just as much as the Ancient Egyptians did. We keep cats as pets and give them treats and toys, just like they did. Whenever you see a cat, remember how special they are and how much people have loved them for thousands of years!
