ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Causation (sociology)

Causation is a way of understanding why and how different things happen. In sociology, it can mean looking at how different things like people's choices and societal systems affect people's lives and the world around them. For example, if people have a choice to go to school or get a job, we can study how that affects their lives and how their lives affect others. We can also look at how larger social systems, like the economy or government policies, affect people, and how people's decisions or actions can influence those systems.
