Causes of the Franco-Prussian War
Okay, so do you know that long ago there were two really big countries in Europe called France and Prussia? They didn't really get along too well and sometimes they had arguments called conflicts. One day, France wanted to be the most powerful country in Europe and Prussia wasn't too happy about that.
To make things worse, there was a man named Napoleon III who was the leader of France and he wasn't doing a great job. He was struggling to keep his power and people didn't really like him. Prussia saw this as an opportunity to take advantage of France's weakness and they started making plans to go to war with them.
One of the things that really made things bad was that there was a small country called Luxembourg that was trying to decide which side to join in the conflict. France really wanted Luxembourg to be on their side, but Prussia wanted them to be on their side. They both kept pressuring Luxembourg and it became a big problem.
