Causewayed enclosure
A causewayed enclosure is like a really big circle made out of dirt and other stuff that people made a long, long time ago. They didn't have big machines like we do now, so they had to use their hands and some special tools to move all the dirt and rocks around. Inside the circle, there are little ditches and banks, which are like big steps made out of dirt that go up and down. People used these banks to walk around and do different things in different parts of the enclosure.
The funny thing about the causewayed enclosure is that there aren't any doors or gates to get in or out. Instead, there are these little pathways that cross over the banks so that people could get in and out of the circle without having to climb up and over the banks. These pathways are called causeways. That's why it's called a causewayed enclosure.
Nobody really knows for sure why the people who built these enclosures made them. But scientists think that they were probably used for different things. Some people think that they were just big meeting places where lots of people would come together to talk, trade stuff with each other, and have big parties. Other people think that they might have been used for different purposes at different times, like maybe for religious ceremonies or for defense against other groups of people who might want to do them harm.
