ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

CcMmYK color model

When we look at the colors around us, like the grass or the blue sky, they are made up of a bunch of different colors mixed together. But when we paint or print something, we need to choose specific colors to use. That's where the CMYK color model comes in!

CMYK stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Key (which is really Black). These are the four colors that printers use to create all the other colors.

Cyan is a blue-green color, like the color of the ocean. Magenta is a pinkish-purple color, like the color of a flower. Yellow is, well, yellow! And Key (or black) is just black.

When we mix these colors together, we can create any other color we want. For example, if we mix together cyan and magenta, we'll get a shade of purple! If we mix yellow and magenta, we'll get orange. And if we mix all four colors together, we'll get a shade of black.

So when we're printing something, we use these four colors to create all the other colors we need. We might need to use more or less of each color depending on what we're printing, but these four colors are the basic building blocks of printing.
