ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Celestial pole

Imagine you are spinning round and round in a circle. Everything around you looks like it’s moving so fast! Now, imagine that you're spinning fast around a very tall pole that’s stuck to the ground. That pole is called the celestial pole.

The celestial pole is a very special pole, like a giant lamp post that never moves. It’s the point in the sky that the earth's axis points to, which means it’s always in the same spot in the sky.

In simpler words, it's like an imaginary pole that extends from Earth's North Pole and South Pole to the sky. When you look up at the sky at night, you can see stars twinkling in the sky, but they all appear to be moving around that special pole, which is the celestial pole.

So, imagine being on a giant merry-go-round spinning around, and the celestial pole is like a giant tree planted in the middle that never moves!
