ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Cell ID

Okay kiddo, so you know how we have different names for people, like your mom, dad, or teacher? Well, it's kind of like that for cell towers. Each cell tower has a special name called a Cell ID.

When you use your phone, it talks to the cell tower so that the tower can send and receive information like calls, texts, and internet. The phone uses the Cell ID to tell the tower which one it's talking to.

Think of it like going to a store. If you want to buy something, you need to know which store you're in so you can pay for it. The Cell ID is like the store name, and your phone is like the cashier.

So, when you're using your phone and it's talking to a tower, you'll see the Cell ID displayed on your phone. And that's basically what it is - just a name for the tower your phone is connected to.
