ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Cellular agriculture

Have you ever seen cows or chickens on a farm? They are raised by farmers and their meat, eggs, and milk are used for us to eat. But what if we could make the same meat, eggs, and milk without needing the animals? That's what cellular agriculture is all about!

You see, all the delicious things we get from cows, chickens, and other animals like meat, eggs, and milk are made from tiny little cells. And scientists have figured out how to grow these cells in a lab without using the whole animal.

So, instead of raising a whole cow to get a steak, you could just grow the same kind of cells as the steak would come from. It's like making a cake - you don't need to raise a whole cow to use its milk and eggs, you can just get those ingredients from a store and mix them together!

This way, we can have the same tasty meat, eggs, and milk that we love without using as much resources and land to raise animals. Plus, it's more sustainable and we can have better control over what goes into our food.

So, with cellular agriculture, we can keep enjoying our favorite foods while also taking care of our planet and treating animals more kindly.
