Cellulosic ethanol commercialization

Okay kiddo, do you remember learning about ethanol before? It's a type of fuel that can be made from different plants like corn or sugarcane. But now scientists have discovered a new way to make ethanol from something called "cellulose."

Cellulose is a material that makes up the walls of plant cells. It's like the bricks that make up a house. Scientists can break down these "bricks" to get to the ethanol inside.

Now, making ethanol from cellulose is really cool because it can use things that would otherwise go to waste like wood chips, grasses or cornstalks. Instead of throwing them away, we can turn them into fuel!

However, making cellulosic ethanol on a large scale (like a big factory) is still pretty expensive. Scientists and companies are working hard to make it easier and cheaper to make so that we can use it to power cars, trucks, and planes.

Once they figure out how to do it, cellulosic ethanol will be a new and exciting way to make fuel that's better for the environment and uses things we might normally throw away!
