The Central Synagogue of Aleppo is a very special building that was built a long time ago in the city of Aleppo, which is in Syria. It is a synagogue, which is a place where Jewish people go to pray and worship.
This synagogue is very important to the Jewish community because it's been around for a very long time, over 1,000 years! That means it's much older than most of the buildings that you see around you every day.
The synagogue is actually made up of three different parts, or sections. The oldest part of the synagogue is called the Shrine of Elijah, which was built almost 1,300 years ago! This section is named after a very important Jewish prophet named Elijah.
Another part of the synagogue is called the Middle Section, which was built about 500 years ago. And the newest part of the synagogue was built around 100 years ago and is called the New Section.
People used to come from all over the world to visit this special synagogue because it was such an important place for the Jewish community. Unfortunately, in 2012, the civil war that was happening in Syria caused a lot of damage to the synagogue. The building was badly damaged and many artifacts and important items inside were destroyed or looted.
Today, people are working to restore and preserve the Central Synagogue of Aleppo so that it can continue to be an important place for the Jewish community and for people to visit and learn about the history and culture of the area.
