Centres of Plant Diversity

Have you ever played Pokemon and noticed that different types of Pokemon live in different regions? Well, it's the same for plants too. Some regions of the world have a lot of different types of plants living there, while others have fewer. The places where there are a lot of different types of plants are called "centres of plant diversity".

Imagine a garden with lots of different flowers, like roses, daisies, and lilies. Now imagine another garden with only one type of flower, like just roses. The first garden has more plant diversity than the second garden.

In the same way, some parts of the world have many different types of plants living there, while some other parts only have a few types of plants. These areas are called centres of plant diversity, and they're usually found in warm and humid regions, like rainforests.

Centres of plant diversity are important because they contain many different plant species, some of which may have medicinal properties or could be useful for food or other products. They also provide habitats for many animals and insects that rely on plants for their survival.

So, just like how different types of Pokemon are found in different regions, different types of plants are found in different parts of the world, and some places have more plant diversity than others. These areas are known as centres of plant diversity, and they're important for the health of our planet, and providing us with resources we use everyday.
