Cercelée

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a picture of a shield with a picture of an animal on it? That's called a coat of arms. Sometimes, the animal on the coat of arms is in a different shape than just standing normally. It might be sort of squished or squeezed in a little bit. When the animal looks like it's all squeezed in tight like that, we call it "cercelée". It's just a fancy French word that means "encircled" or "ringed in". So to sum it up, cercelée is when the animal on a coat of arms looks like it's all squeezed in tight and surrounded by a circle or ring.
