ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Champorado

Champorado is a yummy breakfast food that is made of rice, cocoa powder, and sweetener. It is a popular porridge from the Philippines that is usually eaten during the rainy season.

So, it starts with plain old rice. Now, rice is like these tiny white grains that you cook in boiling water until they become soft and fluffy. Once the rice is cooked, we add cocoa powder which is like a yummy chocolate powder that makes the rice taste like chocolate! Then we add a little bit of sugar or sweetener to make it just the right amount of sweet.

When we're all done mixing up the rice, cocoa powder, and sweetener, we have this thick, chocolatey porridge that you can serve warm in a bowl with some milk or cream on top if you like it that way. It makes for a warm, filling, and tasty breakfast or snack. Yum!
