Chantry

Okay kiddo, so a chantry is like a special place in a church where people would say prayers for someone who had died. And the idea was that by saying these prayers, it would help that person's soul get into heaven faster. It was kind of like asking God to help them.

Sometimes, rich people would pay to have a chantry built and they would have their own priests and singers to say the prayers there. Other times, it was just a part of a regular church and anyone could go there to say a prayer for their loved ones who had passed away.

So basically, a chantry was a special place where people went to pray for dead people so that they could go to heaven quicker.
