ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Charity (Christian virtue)

Charity is a Christian virtue that means helping others who need it, even if you don't know them.

It's like when you share your toys with a friend who doesn't have any toys to play with. You don't have to share, but you do it to be kind and help your friend.

As a Christian, people believe that when you show charity, you are showing love for your neighbor and following Jesus' command to love others as yourself.

Charity can look different for different people. For some, it might mean donating money to a charity that helps people in need. For others, it might mean volunteering at a soup kitchen or homeless shelter, or helping an elderly neighbor with their groceries.

The important thing about charity is that it comes from the heart, and it's not just about doing something nice for someone else because you want recognition or something in return. It's about truly caring for others and wanting to help them, just because it's the right thing to do.
